The Virtues of Learning the Quran in Islamic Sharia
Dedicating time and effort to learn the Book of Allah is highly elevated in Islamic tradition. The Quran and authentic Sunnah detail profound spiritual rewards for the devoted learner:

The Highest Rank of Believers: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) explicitly stated, "The best among you are those who learn the Quran and teach it." (Sahih Al-Bukhari). Engaging with the Quran elevates your status in this world and the Hereafter.

Intercession on the Day of Judgment: The Quran will serve as an active defender for its companions. The Prophet (PBUH) said, "Read the Quran, for it will come as an intercessor for its reciters on the Day of Resurrection." (Sahih Muslim).

A Source of Healing and Mercy: Allah declares in the Quran, "And We send down of the Quran that which is healing and mercy for the believers" (Quran 17:82). It provides both spiritual healing from doubts and diseases of the heart, and physical tranquility.

Multiplying Rewards: Every single letter recited carries an immense reward. The Prophet (PBUH) explained that whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah receives ten rewards. He clarified, "I do not say Alif-Lam-Mim is a letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter, and Mim is a letter." (Sunan At-Tirmidhi).

The Etiquette (Adab) of Engaging with the Quran

Sincerity of Intention (Ikhlas): Learning must be solely for the sake of Allah, seeking His pleasure, and not for worldly show or praise.

Physical and Spiritual Purity: It is highly recommended (and required by many scholars for touching the Mushaf) to be in a state of ritual purity (Wudu) before reciting.

Seeking Refuge and Saying Bismillah: A reciter must begin by seeking refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan (Isti'adhah) and saying Bismillah ir-Rahman ir-Rahim (except at the beginning of Surah At-Tawbah).

Reciting with Reflection (Tadabbur): The goal is not merely to rush through the pages, but to ponder the meanings and implement the commandments in daily life.
