Linguistically, the word "Tajweed" means improvement or perfection. Technically, it refers to giving each letter its proper articulation point and characteristics without exaggeration or deficiency. Tajweed is one of the most important sciences related to the Quran because it preserves the correct recitation of Allah’s words. The Quran is the divine speech of Allah, and reciting it is an act of worship. Therefore, it should be recited as it was revealed. Allah says in the Quran: “Recite the Quran with measured recitation.” (Surah Al-Muzzammil 73:4) The importance of Tajweed goes beyond beautifying the voice. It protects the meanings of the verses from distortion, as changing a letter or vowel can completely alter the meaning of a word.
